Cindy serves as the Lead Undergraduate Academic Advisor, Peer Advisor Supervisor, and ECN/HIS Tutor Supervisor for the Blue Cluster Administration. Cindy has been an advisor for 10 years at UC Davis primarily at EHE. 

Advising Philosophy

My advising philosophy is grounded in empathy, inclusion, and a deep commitment to student advocacy. After more than a decade of advising at UC Davis, I’ve learned that students flourish when they feel genuinely supported; not only academically, but as whole individuals navigating complex lives, identities, and responsibilities. I strive to create an environment where students feel safe to explore their goals, confront challenges, and build confidence in their own voice.

My experiences as a UC Davis alum, former transfer student, and parent shape the way I show up for students every day. Becoming a mother strengthened my patience, compassion, and ability to listen with intention. It taught me to slow down, to meet people where they are, and to recognize that every student carries a unique story that deserves care and understanding. These perspectives help me advise with a steadiness and empathy that honors each student’s humanity.

Over the past ten years, I’ve developed a broad, nuanced understanding of UC Davis; its systems, its opportunities, and the challenges students face across diverse backgrounds. This experience allows me to guide students holistically, helping them navigate policies, connect with resources, and make decisions that align with both their goals and their wellbeing. My approach is student-centered, equity-minded, and rooted in the belief that advising is a partnership built on trust, clarity, and compassion.

My long‑term goals include continuing to grow as a multidimensional, collaborative leader who models empathy, integrity, and thoughtful communication. I aim to uplift students by strengthening their confidence, expanding their possibilities, and supporting them through academic, personal, and professional transitions. Ultimately, I hope to continue serving UC Davis as an advisor, deeply rooted in a campus that has become my home away from home.
