Below is an overview of the information and steps you'll need to prepare for Fall Quarter.

First Year Resources

Economics, History and East Asian Studies are major programs within the College of Letters and Science. Students in the College of Letters and Science must complete Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising. Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising will provide you with comprehensive advice about preparing for your first quarter and registering for classes. Below is information specific to these majors.

Summer Roadmap

Below is an overview of the information and steps you'll need to prepare for your first quarter

 

  • STEP 1: Complete Aggie 101- Required
  • All incoming freshmen and transfer students must complete Aggie 101. This online program will provide essential information and introduce you to the key resources you’ll need to be successful at UC Davis.
  • STEP 2: Complete Aggie Advising Canvas Program- Required
  • Complete the Aggie Advising Canvas ModulesLearn how to select courses, build and balance your schedule, and start satisfying the requirements you’ll need to graduate. You’ll find resources and tips to help you navigate the university, explore your interests, and ensure your first quarter is a success.
  • Step 3: Attend a "Preparing for Pass 1 Webinar" Hosted by Orientation- Required
  • The next step in your Aggie Advising process is to attend a “Preparing for Pass 1” webinar. These webinars are mandatory and are designed around your college and student type (first-year or transfer). Webinar registration directions will be sent to your UC Davis email. In the email, you will see multiple dates/times for this webinar. You only need to attend ONE session. Make sure choose the correct college and RSVP once you receive that email, as seats will fill up quickly. This webinar will be hosted by current students and will demonstrate how to effectively use Schedule Builder, the online tool that you will use to register for courses here at UC Davis. A panel of students will share insights in building a balanced schedule and maximizing your time outside of classes.

  • Step 4: Attend an Aggie Resource Webinar- Hosted by Orientation- Optional
  • We know that coming to UC Davis can leave you with a lot of questions. That's why we host multiple webinars over the summer to help get those questions answered! These resource-based webinars will take place in July and August. More information will be made available in early summer.
  • Step 5: Transfer Students Only- Attend EHE Major Aggie Advising Session- Recommended
  • The Economics, History, and East Asian Studies Advising Center will be offering webinars (for transfer students only) on topics such as class recommendations, academic resources, and tools for success in our programs, as well as being available for questions. Please click below for the days/times of the webinars based on your major, as well as access to a pre-recorded webinar in case you are unable to attend live:

  • Step 6: Registration- Required
  • After you’ve planned out your first quarter, you should have everything you need to register for classes. All students will register for courses using Schedule Builder during their assigned pass time. Watch this video to learn more about Schedule Builder.

  • Step 7: Attend Aggie Orientation- Required
  • Get excited about being an Aggie! Sign up for Aggie Orientation. This five-day program is your opportunity to start building community networks of support, find resources, and begin your life on campus. Stay tuned for our major welcome, which will be hosted in our department by our Staff and Faculty! Details to be shared over the Summer.

    First Year Students: September 18th (College Welcome) and 19th (Major Advising)
     
    Transfer Students: September 16th (College Welcome) and 17th (Major Advising) 

Advising Resources

UC Davis has a decentralized advising structure. Learn how to meet with your major and college advisors below. 

 

  • First Year Major Advising
  • FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

    It is optional for our incoming First-Year students to meet with a major advisor. We recommend that if you are a first year student (NON TRANSFER STUDENT) and have specific questions, you meet with a college advisor first. Please note, the completion of Aggie Advising Canvas Program may be required to access the appointment system. Available to schedule starting June 8th. 

    To support you, our EHE Advising Center has online resources available to you. We also have exclusive drop in hours with our major advisors, that will begin June 8th.

  • Transfer Student Major Advising 
  • This is your opportunity to speak with your academic advisor one-on-one and ask specific questions about your academic record, discuss goals, and plan your schedule for fall quarter and beyond (for transfer students only). Please click below for the Major Department resources available based on your major prior to your appointment:

    Economics- Starting June 22nd

    East Asian Studies- Starting June 22nd
