Welcome to the Departments of Economics, History, and East Asian Studies this Fall 2024!
Thank you for choosing one of our majors! Your academic advising team is excited to welcome you to UC Davis and are looking forward to helping you make the most of your college experience. Below is an overview of the information and steps you'll need to prepare for Fall Quarter. Be sure to review your resources at the major department level, and at the College level.
Step 1: Complete Aggie 101 (Required)
All incoming freshmen and transfer students must complete Aggie 101. This online program will provide essential information and introduce you to the key resources you’ll need to be successful at UC Davis.
Available: May 7 for First Year Students.
June 5 for Transfer Students.
Step 2: Complete Aggie Advising Canvas Program (Required)
Learn how to select courses, build and balance your schedule, and start satisfying the requirements you’ll need to graduate. You’ll find resources and tips to help you navigate the university, explore your interests, and ensure your first quarter is a success.
Available: May 20 for First Year Students.
June 10 for Transfer Students.
Step 3: Attend an Aggie Advising Webinar- Hosted by Orientation (Optional)
Orientation will be hosting a series of webinars through the summer for newly admitted students. Topics will include preparing for fall classes, registration basics, and campus resources. Watch your email for more information.
Available: July and August
Step 4: Attend a Major Advising Session - Transfer Students Only
The Economics, History, and East Asian Studies Advising Center will be offering webinars (for transfer students only) on topics such as class recommendations, academic resources, and tools for success in our programs, as well as being available for questions. Please click below for the days/times of the webinars based on your major, as well as access to a pre-recorded webinar in case you are unable to attend live:

Available to Transfer Students Only: Once Aggie 101 and Canvas Program has been completed.
Step 5: Advising Appointment - Transfer Students Only (Recommended)
This is your opportunity to speak with your academic advisor one-on-one and ask specific questions about your academic record, discuss goals, and plan your schedule for fall quarter and beyond (for transfer students only). Please click below for the Major Department resources available based on your major prior to your appointment:
FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS: Available: Starting June 17th ; Please note: Viewing a webinar (live or pre-recorded) is mandatory if you intend to schedule an appointment with a major advisor. Attendance will be recorded during live and pre-recorded webinar.

Step 6: Register for Courses (Required)
After you’ve planned out your first quarter, you should have everything you need to register for classes. All students will register for courses using Schedule Builder during their assigned pass time. Watch this video to learn more about Schedule Builder.
Available: August 1-2 for First Year Students.
August 12-13 for Transfer Students.
Step 7: Attend Aggie Orientation (Required)
Get excited about being an Aggie! Sign up for Aggie Orientation. This five-day program is your opportunity to start building community networks of support, find resources, and begin your life on campus.
