March Family Internship Fund Application

UC Davis currently enrolled undergraduate Economics majors interested in pursuing and completing a business related internship during the academic year are eligible to apply for the March Fund Internship Scholarship Award.
 

Do you want to do a business-related internship during the 2025-2026 academic year? Would you like funding for your internship? We have scholarship awards available for Economics majors. Student with unpaid business-related internships are highly encouraged to apply.

The March Family Internship Fund was established to support UC Davis economics students who participate in business-related internships. Roy March, the donor to the fund and graduate of UC Davis in economics, believes in the importance of internships as career-defining and even life-changing experiences. Applicants should research internship opportunities and address their interests and qualifications through the questions listed below. Use the UC Davis Internship and Career Center (ICC) Handshake as a resource for finding internship postings. Applications and resumes will be reviewed and selections made by the staff of the ICC and faculty in the Department of Economics.
 

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate Economics major in good academic standing.
  • Business related internship may be completed by the end of Summer, except for graduating seniors.
    • Graduating seniors must complete their business related internship by the end of June 2026.
  • Students must complete a minimum of 90 hours of internship experience.
  • Internships may be in-person, hybrid, or remote.
  • International and Undocumented/DACA students are eligible to apply.
  • Award amount upon completing a business related internship: $2,500.

Learn the essentials of how to write a resume that gets you noticed by employers. This workshop will cover how you can market your skills, education and experience, and how to tailor your document for your next role.

Learn to craft a cover letter that highlights your interest in a position and the transferable skills that make you the ideal candidate.

Application process:

Submit an application at https://bluecluster.ucdavis.edu/form/march-family-internship-fund-app

If selected, prepare to be interview by Scholarship Committee.

Upon selection, complete a business related internship, participate in professional and career development Workshops and Events, and submit a transcript notation documenting internship experience to receive scholarship award. 

International students will be required to complete Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to participate in an off-campus internship. Please  (SISS) for assistance with the CPT process.
 
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and undocumented students encouraged to apply.

Attach a cover letter addressing the following: 

1. List up to two internships for which you might apply. For each, explain your reasoning for applying to that opportunity, what goals you have for the internship, and why you may be uniquely qualified.
2. How will this scholarship impact your ability to take this internship? 
3. What are your plans to incorporate the internship experience in to your undergraduate education? 
4. What are your career goals?
