Scholarships

Prestigious Scholarships

  • Marshall Scholarship: Full funding for a graduate degree at any institution in the United Kingdom. The Marshall Scholarship will select 50 future leaders to enter graduate degrees throughout the United Kingdom in Fall 2026.  Candidates must be U.S. citizens with cumulative GPA’s of 3.7+ and aspirations to be influential future leaders in their chosen career fields.  Candidates must meet with Prestigious Scholarship Advisor Scott Palmer to gain access to the pre-application. Campus Pre Application Deadline:  June 28, 2026
  • Rhodes Scholarship: Full funding for a graduate degree at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Scholarship will select 32 U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and DACA recipients aged 19-27 with cumulative GPA’s of 3.7+ for full funding towards graduate education at the University of Oxford.  Candidates must aspire to make substantial societal contributions and plan to enter high level influential leadership positions in their careers.  Candidates must meet with Prestigious Scholarship Advisor Scott Palmer to gain access to the pre-application. Campus Pre-Application Deadline:  June 28, 2026
  • Fulbright U.S. Student Program: Round-trip airfare, limited health insurance, monthly stipend, and other potential benefits. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides 2,150+ annual awards in 150+ countries to teach English (ETA), study for a master’s degree or conduct independent research (S/R) for 1 postgraduate academic year.  The program aims to increase mutual understanding between the U.S. and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills.  Apply here. Campus Deadlines:  September 3, 2026
  • Schwarzman Scholars: Full-funding for a one-year MA in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing China.  This includes round-trip airfare, and housing in the Schwarzman Scholars facilities. Schwarzman Scholars seeks candidates aged 18 to 28 from countries throughout the world who have strong English language skills (Mandarin is not required).  Successful applicants will demonstrate academic excellence, exceptional results in their field, and outstanding leadership qualities.  Candidates must have earned a bachelor’s degree by the start of the program in fall 2026.  Campus Deadlines:  September 9, 2026

Outside Scholarships 

  • Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) SF Bay Area Scholarship Program: The Scholarship Program aims to motivate the next generation of energy leaders and to support students from diverse backgrounds with launching successful careers in the clean economy. For undergraduate and master’s students interested in pursuing careers in energy or climate that attend universities in Northern California. Eligible candidates must submit the online application, which includes two short essays. Award Amount: $2,500. Deadline: June 21, 2026
  • Ambassador Year in China Fellowship: AYC provides funding for candidates with bachelor’s degrees by the start of the program to serve as Educational Ambassadors across China.  Applicants must be native English speakers with a passport from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Ireland, or New Zealand. Award Amount:  Stipend, housing, insurance, and airfare. Deadline:  June 30, 2026
  • Armenian Education Benevolent Union Scholarship: Scholarships are available to students of Armenian descent who are enrolled full time with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater and have participated in community engagement (particularly with the Armenian community). Award Amount:  $2,000. Deadline:  June 30, 2026
  • Korean American Scholarship Foundation: KASF scholarships are offered to qualified Korean American students (including foreign students from Korea).  Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. If extra funds are available, other students (non-Koreans) may qualify for scholarships. Specifically, descendants of American veterans who served during the Korean War may qualify for scholarships. Award Amount:  $500 - $5,000. Deadline:  June 30, 2026
  • Theresa Mike Scholarship: The Theresa A. Mike Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization that awards individual scholarships to full time, enrolled tribal members of any tribe across the United States, and/or full-time non-native students from the Coachella Valley and the Morongo Basin. It was established in honor of Theresa Mike’s legacy and honors her commitment to developing a sense of cultural richness, history, and future for the people of her tribe. Award Amount:  $250 - $5,000. Deadline:  June 30, 2026
  • North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP): American college students and graduates - who are native-like speakers of English - partner with elementary and secondary schools in Spain to bolster language programs, as language assistants (TAs) under the supervision and guidance of teachers in Spain. Placements are offered across Spain, in practically every city and town in the country, running from November 1st to May 31st for most assignments. Hours of assistant teaching range from 14 to 16 hours per week also depending on the assignment awarded. Deadline: June 30, 2026
  • Diverse International Women of Color Scholarship: The Diverse International Women of Color Study Abroad Scholarship is intended to assist women of color who are exceptional in their studies and in need of financial assistance for in-person study abroad programs in fall 2026. Award Amount:  $500. Application Period:  July 20, 2026
  •  Patsy Takemoto Mink Scholarships: Five awards of up to $5,000 each are being given to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing education or training.  Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have an income of less than $21,640 for a family of 2; less than $27,320 for a family of 3; or less than $33,000 for a family of 4. Deadline:  August 1, 2026
  •  UC 4-H Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available to current undergraduates who were enrolled in the UC 4-H Youth Development Program at the time of high school graduation or when receiving a General Education Diploma.  Applicants need to be enrolled at least half time and may not be older than 25 as of December 31, 2026. Award Amount:  $500 - $1,000. Deadline:  September 7, 2026

Competitions, Challenges, and Funding

  • St Andrews Study Abroad Award—Spring Semester 2027: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This award supports participation in the UCEAP University of St Andrews program. UC Davis students applying for the semester or academic year program through the 2025–26 application cycle are eligible. Awards of up to $7,000 are available. Deadline: June 19.
  • Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in England: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Provides full funding for one to three years of master’s or doctoral study at the University of Oxford in England. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher and be between ages 18 and 27. Interested students must meet with Prestigious Scholarship Advisor Scott Palmer to access the pre-application. Campus pre-application deadline: June 28.

  • Fulbright U.S. Student Program: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens completing a bachelor’s degree by the 2025–26 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in more than 140 countries. Campus deadline: September 3.
  • Schwarzman Scholars: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Receive a full scholarship for a one-year Master of Arts in Global Affairs at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars live and study on campus while completing a core curriculum in public policy, economics and business or international relations. Deadline: September 9.
  • Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowships: ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​These nine-month fellowships offer research opportunities in India for recent graduates (minimum bachelor’s degree required) and graduate students pursuing master’s or Ph.D. degrees. Campus deadline: September 2026.

  • American University in Cairo, Egypt Study history in a broad range of disciplines at the region’s premier English-language university. Advance your regional knowledge with courses in Middle East Studies, Egyptology, and Arabic and Islamic Civilizations.
  • National University Singapore, Singapore Take history courses taught in English covering Southeast Asia, Europe, the U.S., and thematic areas like art, religion, science, and business in dynamic Singapore.
  • University of Glasgow, UK-Scotland Study history in Scotland with access to unique courses such as Scottish Popular Culture 1500–1800. Gain insight into UK history while exploring a vibrant academic and cultural scene in Glasgow.

Summer at Johns Hopkins SAIS 

Rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates can earn four graduate-level credits in foreign affairs and policy at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies over the summer.
Through our Summer Academies in Washington, DC and Bologna, Italy, students can work with our world-class faculty, learn strategic thinking, and debate policy approaches while living in the middle of the action. 

  • Washington, DC (June 8 – July 2, 2026): Learn about instruments of statecraft, contemporary security challenges, and how intelligence informs policymakers while visiting pivotal sites and agencies in US national security and intelligence. Courses include Strategy and Statecraft for U.S. National Security and The Role of Intelligence in U.S. Foreign Policy, featuring site visits to places such as Capitol Hill, embassies, the Department of State, and more.
  • Bologna, Italy (May 28 – June 28, 2026): Examine conflict analysis and causes of civil wars, debate on international interventions, and address peacekeeping and peacebuilding through case studies. Courses include Constitutional Development and Democratization and The (Geo)Politics of Organized Crime, featuring site visits across Italy, including Florence, Milan, and Palermo.

Submission Guidelines


We invite abstracts of up to 300 words for individual papers and panels that engage one or
more of the following themes:

  • Historical Legacies: The development and influence of the Black Press as an
    instrument of democracy, protest, and cultural politics. The Black Press as an engine
    of local and global change.
  • Contemporary Practices: How Black publications speak to the present political and
    cultural moment. Current politics of ownership, funding and sustainability.
  • Futures of the Black Press: Archival practice and preservation efforts. Digital and
    social media as sites for sustaining and reimagining Black journalistic traditions.
    This symposium will be an inclusive space and we particularly encourage submissions from
    community scholars, independent researchers and practitioners. Attendance is free for all.
